The scheme for the purchase of the temporary directum dominium of Government property or leased property used as an ordinary or summer residence has been extended to September 20 due to the demand there was for the redemption of the ground rent.

The Minister for Fair Competition, Small Business and Consumers said that such schemes have always been a success with hundreds of families applying to redeem the ground rent.

In the past seven months, 243 ground rents were redeemed, enabling the families concerned to become owners of their homes.
