UPDATED: Steel prices on the decrease - Energy Malta
Energy portal www.myenergymalta.com said that PL spokesperson Konrad Mizzi was right when he said that steel prices are going down.
Labour candidate Konrad Mizzi, told the site: "I have encountered Minister Fenech on numerous TV program. In every instance I have replied to his questions and provided answers based on facts. I am confident that the electorate can check the facts. The case in point on Steel prices confirms this."
During yesterday’s debate on Xarabank, Minister of Finance Tonio Fenech contradicted the PL spokesman and stated that steel prices are not going down, however when one looks objectively at the statistics, it is evident that Tonio Fenech was wrong.
The average price of the various steel products went from €644 per tonne in August 2011 to €583 euros per tonne in 2012.
The portal www.myenergymalta.com published a table showing the various steel prices and the average price for the months between August 2011 and September 2012 showing data for the various EU Carbon Steel Prices quoted at Euro per tonne.
